Arrive with better questions.
A considered decision starts well before you book a flight.
1. Begin with your goals
Write down the change you hope to make, what concerns you, and what you would prefer to preserve. Bring previous treatment records if relevant. Ask the clinician to explain the options, including postponing treatment or doing nothing, and the limitations of each approach.
2. Compare the whole care plan
A quotation alone cannot describe the care you will receive. Ask who will perform the procedure, who will provide anesthesia if required, and who will manage follow-up. Request an explanation of risks, alternatives, likely recovery and the possibility of additional treatment in language you understand.
3. Clarify the total commitment
Ask for an itemized written quote showing examinations, treatment, anesthesia, prescribed medicines, follow-up and any excluded costs. Confirm currency, taxes, deposit terms, cancellation rules and the policy for complications or revision. Budget separately for accommodation, transport and changes to your itinerary.
4. Plan continuity of care
Ask the treating clinician how long you should remain nearby and when you can travel. Arrange the recommended reviews before departure, request copies of your medical records and clarify how your local clinician can communicate with the team if necessary. Recovery varies; a standard package itinerary is not personal medical clearance.
