Fat Grafting in Korea

Fat-grafting consultations involve both the area supplying fat and the area receiving it. Research the intended change in contour or volume and how the clinic explains variation in results and the possibility of additional treatment.

How to use this guide

Read the practice’s treatment information, the named physician’s background and the context supplied with its case photographs together. A listing is a starting point for research, not a recommendation for an operation.

Prepare for assessment

Previous facial or body treatments, areas of volume concern, and questions about donor sites and follow-up.

Explain the changes you want and the features you would prefer to preserve. Ask the clinician to distinguish the options that address your concern from those that would not. Clarify what requires an in-person examination before a plan can be finalized.

Questions for your consultation

  • Which donor and recipient areas are proposed?
  • What outcome range is realistic for my case?
  • Could more than one session be needed?
  • How are both treatment areas reviewed?

Common questions

Which READY clinics list fat grafting?

JNB Clinic, Good-Line Plastic Surgery, Answer Plastic Surgery. These are clinic-published service listings; individual suitability and the treating surgeon must be confirmed in consultation.

What belongs in a fat-transfer quotation?

Identify the donor and recipient areas, the proposed session and any separate harvesting or anesthesia charges. Ask how a later treatment would be assessed and priced. Do not read an initial quote as a guarantee of lasting volume.

Which photographs are useful at consultation?

Ask for examples relevant to the area you want treated, with the time since treatment and number of sessions disclosed. Early volume and the final result are not interchangeable; use cases to discuss expectations with the clinician.

GENERAL PROCEDURE INFORMATION

What the procedure involves

Fat transfer involves harvesting fat, preparing it, then injecting it into another area. Local or general anesthesia may be used. Some injected fat is absorbed, so the lasting volume can differ from the initial appearance and additional sessions may be discussed.

Recovery and follow-up

Both donor and recipient areas need follow-up. Bruising and swelling can last weeks, and the final effect may take months to become clear. Ask about the recovery plan for each area.

Risks and limitations

Potential complications include blood collections, fat-tissue death, scarring and fat entering a blood vessel. Risk varies by injection site and technique. General surgical risks also apply; discuss the specific proposed procedure rather than assuming all fat transfer is equivalent.

Assessing suitability and alternatives

A personal assessment should consider your health, goals, prior treatment and the limits of the proposed change. Ask whether a different approach, postponement or no treatment would better fit your circumstances. The clinician must explain which alternatives are relevant to you.
